The annual Faribault Main Street Fall Festival and Chili Cookoff will be held on Oct 13 from noon to 3pm!
The event kicks off at noon with a children’s parade (line up at 11:45am in the public parking lot across from the community center) down Central Ave. There will be kids activities, trick or treating, Haunted Basement Tours at the Paradise Center for the Arts. There will also be the annual Chili Contest, so start perfecting your recipes!

The 2018 Downtown Chili Contest will take place Saturday, Oct 13 on Central Avenue in Faribault, MN.
No shelter or tables will be provided; you will have to provide these if desired. Contestants individual spaces shall not exceed 10’ x 10’.
Rules are to be adhered to by all contestants and assistants. Not abiding by these rules will lead to disqualification.
You may pick up 4-5 cans of beans at the Chamber of Commerce, generously donated by Faribault Foods.
Report to the Organizational Tent on the 400 block of Central Ave as early as 11:00 for your space assignment if you have not been assigned one. Set up must be completed by NOON – contest begins after the parade approximately 12:20.
Contestants are responsible for supplying all their own utensils, etc., including heat source. DON’T FORGET AN EXTENSION CORD and please bring a garbage can/bag to help keep your area as clean as possible. The heat source is required to maintain a safe serving temperature: State guideline= 140 degrees F during serving times (12noon to 2 pm).
Each contestant must cook a minimum of 3 gallons of chili. Be prepared to serve as many as Two Hundred 1 ounce servings. Sample cups are available for all contestants to use for serving.
Competition serving begins at 12:00 noon and ends at 2:00 pm. Again this year – Best Decorated Booth prize! Pick a theme for your chili and run with it. Examples; zombie chili, tropical chili, road trippin’ chili… Have fun with it! Decorate the booth and dress the part(s).
Tasting spoons and official ballots will be provided to participants. Tasters will be identified by a bracelet or a stamped hand once the fee is paid. Each person selects their favorite chili. They are encouraged to try all entries.
No sampling of chili is allowed directly from the cooking pot during serving times and only provided sampling cups can be used.
Participants place their ballots in the official ballot box at the Organizational Tent. Results of the public judging will be announced later in the day and published in the Faribault Daily News.
All contestants are responsible for cleanup and policing of their area and removing all items at the conclusion of the competition.
